My Dear Friends,
As we move ever closer to the Great Celebration, of Palm Sunday, Holy Week and the Sacred Easter Triduum, we have much to do. What kind of push do we need to ramp up our final efforts in these last weeks and days of our Lenten journey?
The sacred Scriptures draw us into the mystery of the ‘New Covenant’ that the Prophet Jeremiah, talks about. Deep within them I will plant my law, writing it on their hearts. Then I will be their God and they will be my people.
The psalmist, reminds us saying, A pure heart create for me, O God, put a steadfast spirit within me!
In our Second we are reminded by Saint Paul’s letter to the Hebrews, ….he became for all who obey him the source of eternal salvation.
Saint John in his Gospel today points out to us,
Now the hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. I tell you, most solemnly unless a grain of wheat falls on the ground and dies, it remains only a single grain; but if it dies, it yields a rich harvest.
We have so much to ponder on in the scriptures! Jesus desires to enter fully into our lives and his words this weekend, speaks of writing on our hearts, creating a pure heart for us, becoming for us a source of eternal salvation and finally, unless we die to ourselves we remain a grain of wheat, but if we die to sin we will yield a rich harvest!
Friends, let us not waste any more time, let us reap the benefits from today’s word of God by putting it into action and allowing, it to give us the push we need to help us grown on our Lenten journey yield in us a rich harvest.
